Hello from the Site Team For The New Travelodge in Wimbledon

We are pleased to inform you that Barnes Construction have been appointed the Main Contractor for the New 177 Bedroom Travelodge with associated retail space on the Ground Floor. Works will be Commencing In May 2020 and are currently programmed to run until Summer 2022. We will provide you with a monthly Newsletter updating you with regards to progress and upcoming works.

Examples of the extra safety precautions we have put in place include:

• Installation of temporary ramps to the pavements to aid pedestrians moving around the external perimeter of our site
• Installation of lights around the site hoarding on Graham’s Road to ensure the safety of individuals when it is dark.
• Bollards along with ‘Cyclist Please Dismount’ signs have been put in place along the section of pavement which runs parallel to our site on Graham Rd. These measures are to limit the risk of any incidents taking place in this vicinity.
• Around site you will have noticed various different metal traffic safety signs. To prevent people from colliding with these signs, we have run bold yellow tape around the perimeter edge to make it easier for people to identify.
• You may have noticed the installation of the ‘Public Viewing Areas’ as we have noticed how interested local passers-by especially children have been in the construction works and machinery being used on site.

Ongoing Works

Although not much has changed in the appearance of the site we have been busy progressing with sub-structure works including pile caps, ground beams and crane base; ready for the installation of the tower crane. These works will be leading on to the construction of the columns and walls  providing support to the transfer slab. Completion on the above is set for Spring 2021.

Upcoming Works

• Electric supplies are due to be taken into the site at the start of January 2021
• Installation of the Crane Base – The tower crane install is programmed for erection the later par of Jan 2021.
• Sub-Structure Block Work.
